Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

Cherie Howard, PMHNP-BC

Cherie Howard is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) at Restorative Mindset & Behavior Institute PLLC, where she provides compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care across the lifespan.

Cherie earned both her Master of Science in Nursing, with a concentration in psychiatry, and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing as an honors graduate. She brings more than three decades of nursing experience to her practice, with expertise spanning psychiatric medication management, addiction medicine, geriatric psychiatry, acute and critical care, and telehealth.

Before joining the Institute, Cherie served diverse patient populations across Eastern North Carolina, including hybrid psychotropic medication management for behavioral health and substance use patients in outpatient clinics and psychiatric care for older adults in long-term care settings. She has experience caring for children, adolescents, and adults, and has mentored and supervised junior nurse practitioners throughout her career.

Cherie is bilingual in English and Spanish, which allows her to connect with and serve a broader community. She is known for her warm, attentive presence, her careful collaboration with therapists, primary care providers, and families, and her commitment to patient education — making sure every individual understands their care and feels heard.

Outside of her clinical work, Cherie values family, lifelong learning, and serving the Eastern North Carolina community she calls home.
