Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Monissa Richards is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care for children, adolescents, and adults. She offers comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, personalized medication management, and supportive follow-up care designed to help you feel steadier, safer, and more like yourself again.
Before advancing to her nurse practitioner role, Monissa spent years at the bedside in behavioral health — supporting people through their most difficult moments, including acute crisis, mood and anxiety disorders, psychosis, and substance use recovery. That experience shaped the way she practices today: calm, unhurried, and grounded in the belief that every person deserves to be listened to before they're treated.
Her approach is collaborative and person-centered. Monissa takes the time to understand your full story — your symptoms, your history, your goals, and what daily life actually looks like for you. She explains your options in plain language, welcomes your questions, and builds a treatment plan around your priorities rather than handing you a one-size-fits-all prescription.
She earned her Master of Science in Nursing (PMHNP) from Walden University, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Duke University School of Nursing, and a Bachelor of Science in Human Services from Springfield College.
Monissa cares for individuals across the lifespan and welcomes patients navigating depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD and trauma, ADHD, psychotic-spectrum illness, and co-occurring substance use concerns. She also places strong emphasis on patient and family education, so you leave each visit understanding your care and confident in the next step.
